I am a 35 year old female. I have type 2 diabetes and I am on insulin (Humalog 16units pre meal and Lantus 60units once a day)I am convinced that the insulin is making me fat. I did gain a lot of weight when I started using insulin.
I am very overweight and exhausted most of the time. I have a bicycle that I do use, nothing major and I am sure some will laugh at this. I cycle 5km every morning. In the last year I managed to lose 35kg with the cycling, drink loads of water and cutting out all fizzy drinks. But my weight have been the same for the last three months.
I really need to lose more weight and so does my 17 year old son. He plays rugby and cycles a lot but he is over weight. We have a problem regarding allergies he can not eat chicken, fish or eggs.
I do understand that I am tired because of my weight, but how do I change this vicious cycle I am in? I do not want to spend another year of my life fat.
Any advice will really be appreciated.

The most important thing for weight loss is Diet and weight training combined with cardio.
My best advice to you would be to get hold of DJ he could design you a great program to attain your goals. He does mine and many others on the forum and we are all more than pleased with the results.

We eat a lot of ostrich, lean fat free pork and very lean beef. Breakfast is usually oats and yoghurt, lunch sandwiches with tomato, lettuce dinners are protein, brown basmati rice and a vegetable.
We do snack I am not going to lie, potato chips is our down fall. But I am managing it two small packs a week, and we are working on cutting it out completely.
I just dont know what other exercise to do, I find gym intimidating and I dont want to go jump around with a bunch of skinny girls. Fat is ugly - bouncing fat is revolting.

I haven`t always eaten like this a year ago we had take aways up to 5 times a week we lived of junk food, chocolates aqnd fizzy drinks. It took me a year to get us to eat a lot better and it is really paying off.
The problem is that I dont know what else I can do because I stopped losing weight and I still have a lot to lose. For three months now my weight has not moved. And I am so tired most of the time, I did bloodtest and there is nothing wrong according to them.
The only thing that I havent changed is exercise I do my 5km a day and that is it. I walk into a gym and it is like walking into a foreign country. I have no idea where to start?
SO what am I really asking?
1. Info on insulin and weight
2. What exercises to do in gym that will help me see result quick because I need to see something happen
3. What supplements can I use that really does work I have read up on hgh does it work?

write down your daily diet meal for meal for a day or 2,get yourself a food scale and weight out everything u need. i think that you need to get your diet right first.i think you need a structured diet to follow first, following a diet that lacks protein, carbohydrate and fats will cause a major drop in metabolic rate.

I will go back to doing a food journal. Add the treadmill to the cycling give it a week and see what happens.

Could it be that you are a Type 1?? When where you diagnosed and what were your predisposing factors?? Has your insulin sliding scale been worked out correctly?? The advice give here is spot on, however Type 1 or Type 2 DM = DIABETIC DIETS most of which is low glycemic index based. The advice you seek, you will not find on this forum. Attend your diabetic clinic, speak to your specialist and ask him/her to refer you to a dietician.
Ps This advice is from a specialist
