So I'm very keen and excited to compete in my first physique event. I have been training consistently for many years and, even though I spend a lot of time lurking on these forums, most of it has been done naturally (ie off cycle).

I've been looking into my first show and was hoping for some advice. The two big-ballers are obviously the WBFF and IFBB. Are there any other federations to look into? Between those two I would opt for the IFBB.

I see there is a 'Clash of Titans' event next weekend in Durbanville. Anyone know anything about their shows? I am going to be taking the rest of the year to slowly gain some weight and will shed next year depending on when I compete. I am currently in the best shape I've ever been (29 years old) and feel like there's a definite change in my physique that's occured since last year (like a maturity, or aesthetic change).

I'm not really sure where to turn. I don't have any friends/contacts that compete and am kind of trying to figure this thing out on my own. I have 0 clue about posing except for all the videos I've watched over the years. I want to do physique / muscle model / beach body type of event.

I will most probably be on and off SARMS whilst prepping and don't foresee using any AAS pre-contest.

Sorry, I accidentally posted this in the wrong section. My apologies :silly:

Hey there. Great news you planning on competing. I have a few clients here in my country who compete. They went with the ifbb federation. Ifbb pro elite
The second guy currently competes under wbff federation.

I will post more information once i get the pros and cons for each federation.

However the person on this forum named Xtreme has a better understanding. He posted a topic once if I remember correctly. Just search here for more information

On posing you can look at some vids on E.A (admin) can remove if this avoids forum rules here.
Posing comes naturally for some and other guys have a hard time showing they package so to speak.

On sarms. That can be a option however there are compounds which are “needed” to get that “cut and popping” physique
Thats comes from tren and masteron/winny and the like, if you see what im trying to get at

I spoke to a friend in the states. His with the ifbb federation. You have better pull if you go with that federation

I did my first athletic physique competition two months ago and I went IFBB and no problems with them. I did all my training and competition prepping via youtube. Just remember if you are shredded you will do good so you need to go to 8% body fat at least. Posing is the easiest from all the classes just the normal quarter turns.

Thanks for the feedback thus far guys.

I havent been below 10% in a few years. A big reason for me wanting to compete is the fact that, for the pst 7 years or so, I haven’t been able to cut because of a fear of being small. Now I know this sound silly but I’m sure many of you can relate. I’m not a massive oke in any case. The year that I finally figured out nutrition, and went from always being 60- something kilograms on a scale to over 85kgs, somehing just flipped in my head. I kinda became who I have always wanted to be since a young kid. So yeah, I haven’t been in the single digits due to this. Irononically, I’ll be as cut as an alley cat, I know. It’s just weird when clothes start sitting loose, etc. but I know I have a sick, solid foundation to bring out. I also know I’ll regret it if I don’t.

Did you run a pre contest cycle Triton? Also, did you have to massively cut down or was it more a matter of dialing in on the usual.

I went from 109 kg in January to 90 kg in April a day before the competition but I was on at least 18 % body fat and went down to 8 % I guess. I used 500 mg testosterone Cypionate and 300 mg Trenbolone Enanthate a week from 12 weeks out. Four weeks prior to competition date I used 5 x 10 mg winstrol pills per day. I also took 75 mg T3 with clenbuterol the last four weeks. A week before the comp date I stopped using all syeroids to minimize water retention. Last week I cut all carbs and then preloaded again with carbs two days before comp day. I also cleaned up my diet three months before the comp. A week before I also did the water increase to up to 10 liters a day to one day before comp and then cut total except for sipping water on last day. I must say the week before comp I felt terrible and no energy. Like I said I got all my advice from youtube and this worked for me but I have little practical experience except for this one competition.
