Ive just turned 40!! was created by Just40
Hey - just joined. I've always gone to gym and looked after myself. But for last few months I haven't for various reasons. But I turned 40 last year and the weirdest things are happenibg. I'm getting muffin top for a start - I've never never had anything like this in my life. I've also lost muscle and I'm just frieked out. Is this normal, what should I do? I'm gyming again from today.
Also heard cardio not so good for over 40's cause of cortisol...

Hi

I'm sure this is all normal, I have seen this happen to skoonma and other senior-burgers, she started to go blind, had to go get reading specs, got a double chin and a muffin top and some extra kgs, she on the other hand didn't exercise at all. Sounds like you are living healthy and so you shouldn't worry too much. As long as you keep yourself busy and exercise(if your body and mind are willing). I have also seen tannies at 70 years of age still running around the track at our local athletics club. Regarding loss of muscle its all normal, not sure about the exact time frame but when you stop training for about more than 6 weeks your body goes catabolic or you get fat. Could be corrected if I'm not sure so if some of our other senior-burgers (no offence) can add please do.

Keep pumping...

If you keep doing what you've been doing
You gonna keep getting what you've been getting...

I am 43 now and started training with weights 26 months ago and my weight went from 126 to 95 kg with my body fat from 40 % to about 14 % currently. This was the best change of lifestyle I ever imagine and all axpects of my life improved from just standing up and walking to sleeping and even sexually. I was partly bold before and after improving my dieet and exercising I am still bold haha so no help there.

Welcome to the Seniors Club  I'm almost halfway to the next division, so yeah

LISS cardio of over 45 minutes can apparently cause some metabolic issues in a handful of people, causing muscle loss and difficulty losing weight. We don't do that here doe, because muscle preservation is paramount. If anyone, regardless of age, was to train like a marathon runner, they would turn into a skinny wimp. It's that simple. Youth will not prevent that.
